Went out just now after getting the last item I was waiting for for my suspension and hung my hammock in front of the house. First time ever hanging one on my own and thanks to all of you wonderful people here and the great advice/videos contained within & on reddit.com/r/hammocks I LOVED it. I think I may have went overboard with the length of the suspension I ordered but that's ok, I just have more options. I wrapped the webbing several times around the only two trees that are nearby, adjusted my whoopie slings to their minimum length almost, and setup my adjustable ridgeline and laid down with trepidation.
"Was this going to hold? Did I do it right? Am I going to lay here for a minute before being released and land on my back knocking the wind out of me?" All these thoughts were going through my mind. I adjusted myself to my diagonal lay and immediately found the ambient temperature about 10 degrees cooler (that's a good thing here in Tampa today!). I could have easily passed right out in this moment of heaven, but being fair skinned and a redhead, I figured it might not be a good move on my part w/o some sunscreen. I laid there for about 30 minutes and then reluctantly got out, slipped my feet back into my now boiling hot flip flops, took my hammock back down and brought it inside with a huge grin on my face.
I'm going to love camping in this thing!
