    Suspension Kits

    Hey everyone,
I went hammock camping a few weeks back, and have decided to start making monthly hanging trips out to this great hiking/camping loop I've found. However I decided before I go I'm going to upgrade my gear a bit, because I ripped a hole in my cheapo ratchet straps that were previously my suspension. I had planned on buying a suspension kit from here: once I got a job. However, now that I finally have one it seems like they do not sell the suspension kit they previously did. Anyone have any good suggestions on affordable all in one suspension kits, or should I start looking at how I can get my hands on some amsteel to make my own?

    Edit: here's the link again

That link isn't working for me so I am not sure which style suspension system you are looking for.

The vendor section of the forums lists several vendors that this community likes; many of which have hammock suspension systems for you to buy. I would encourage you to check a few of them out and see what they have.

Do you know what kind of suspension you wanted?

Make your own! I just assembled my very first two DIY hammocks and suspensions this past weekend, and it was very easy and rewarding. Here are a few great links

Calculator and instructions for whoopie slings
    http://hammocker.com/whoopie-sling/

Great site for DIY gear (cords, cloth, etc) http://www.backwoodsdaydreamer.com/products-page/

DIY Table cloth Hammocks (what I'm using the 60*126 sage one. There are other sizes as well)
    http://www.tableclothsfactory.com/ta...shes-s/132.htm

A very helpful site for making all things hammock

Then of course there's Shug and Professor Hammock videos

    Prof Hammock's hardware free suspension

    Hope that helps

I'm looking for something simple and easy to use. I'd prefer not to make it myself, just because I know from experience that diy projects tend to cost way more than I ever plan.
I think I fixed the link on there, but I'm hoping to find a whoopie sling with carabiners to attach my hammock to the suspension.
Thanks for the links cowboy, I haven't run across any sites that sell amsteel by the foot before. If I can't find a reasonably priced suspension kit I may just have to buy some amsteel and give it a go

Like Flipflop mentioned most of the vendors that deal in suspensions are currently offering kits. We carry a couple options as do most of the other shops. Look through the sites as there are a number of variations, from whoopie slings to cinch buckles, to rings to lines for knots...so on and so forth.

I can highly recommend Arrowheads whoopie sling kit, it is hard to make it yourself for the price.
