Bridge hammock suspension question

Im just about done with my bridge hammock....just waiting on some amsteel to make the suspension. My question is does the vinyl tubing in the webbing loops that grizz recommends really necessary? I'm not sure why, but I just don't like how it looks, but if it's necessary I will get some.

Necessary for function? No. Necessary to protect the webbing from wearing through due to movement and friction of the Amsteel loop that passes through it? I don't know. But because I don't know I put that tubing in, Just In Case.

Another route is to do without the tubing and keep an eye on the wear of the webbing, particular at the edges. If they show wear, then it's time to retire the hammock, or perhaps cut the loop off and bar tack on another length of webbing to create a new loop. I wouldn't like the way that looks.

Thanks...I guess I was hoping someone would say it was totally pointless to have the tubing. Oh well off to lowes to buy some. Thanks for all the help... Your videos are what I used to create my hammock!
