    Hello from Middle Tennessee

    Hello Everyone,

I have lurked here for awhile now and there is so much great information I figured I would finally register. I have been hiking and camping since 1985 in some sort or fashion with the Boy Scouts. I turned my passion of the outdoors into a career in the Military where I have been around the world and back again over the past 19 years. A few months back my Son joined the Cub Scouts where I am his Den Leader and we are starting to spin up on outdoor activities and camping. I look forward to making him and myself some DIY Hammocks and Tarps and teach him and his Pack the ways of fieldcraft/bushcraft. We will be exploring the wonders of the great outdoors and I will have fun watching them grow and learn into the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts.

I look forward to some great discussions and I will be asking more than a few questions in my quest to building the equipment needed for hangin' out in the woods.

Dave, welcome to HF from over in east Tennessee. Yep, you've come to a great place with lots of inquisitive and innovative folks--lots of creative minds and a wealth of experience. Hope things go well with bringing up your young'uns. Get them out often and teach them all you can. You might want to check out the Middle Tennessee hang out that is coming soon.

Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.

Welcome aboard from another member in Middle TN. WickedKlown and cub scouts should make for some interesting stories around the campfire

How tall are cub scouts these days? I have a kids hammock that needs a home. 2sticks (daughter) just graduated up to a a full size hammock.
