See you at lunch in downtown Greenville shortly! My mother's post-surgery occupational therapist just left. I asked what kind of job my mama could get.

I learned long ago what happens if a trip should be called and it isn't. We cave divers have a rule: "Any diver can call (cancel) the dive at anytime for themselves or someone else for any reason or no reason without fear of repercussion." I have a wife to get back home to and I will do my best to make sure the team gets out alive and safe.

It was good to see you for lunch.

Now some envy. There is no way I could even entertain the thought of those miles. In that heat the only way possible for me would be night hiking and 0500 starts and hang time during the heat of the day.
FIMB what did you think of the hydration tube in the bottle? One bottle 'cooking' with AquaMira and the other being used; I like that system.
Great video the both of you. Thanks for sharing.
As of right now I've just been using one bottle and sipping on it until I get to my next stop where I drink all that is in it right before I fill it back up. I do carry a 1L platy for the occasions where water is scarce.

I ended up drinking ~9L of water while on the trail. I believe that it is one of the few reasons I was able to make it the way I did (and apparently I'm "a mountain goat crossed with a marathoner" according to FLRider).

I am using a stick pic. They are pretty cheap and the customer service is great!

Good call and great video. The wife always appreciates it when you come home safely even if it is a little early. Looking forward to seeing your next attempt.

Yeah, she does. I too am looking forward to it. I enjoyed your videos too. I hope that we make it to the John Rock group hang before you leave on Saturday.

I just got back from a 7 day walk and watching your video makes me want to get right back out there! My favorite hikes are the ones where I have to change plans mid hike! Thanks for the video, FireInMyBones, good stuff!

No kidding! Here's one of my favorite outdoorsman quotes, by Horace Kephart from my 1933 edition of "Camping" from his 1917 magazine articles and book:

"Yet all of us who spend much time in the woods are keen to learn about the other fellow's 'kinks.' And field equipment is a most excellent hobby to amuse one during the shut-in season. I know nothing else that so restores the buoyant optimism of youth as overhauling one's kit and planning trips for the next vacation. Solomon himself knew the heart of man no better than that fine old sportsman who said to me 'It isn't the fellow who's catching lots of fish and shooting plenty of game that's having the good time: it's the chap who's getting ready to do it."

You are welcome, Brucie. I hope your walk went well.

I like it. The shut in season may very well become the summer for me.
