    Shiloh Finished the AT

Ok, so he traded in his hammock part way through, but he finished the AT at Katahdin this morning, according to his journal.

That's great, and there is nothing wrong with trading in the hammock.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

No there isn't, and finishing a thru is a great accomplishment.

But, since this is HF...does anyone know his reasoning for switching back to the ground?

AS: His first Speer hammock ripped, and Ed replaced it immediately. I think maybe Ed sent a larger hammock, and Shiloh felt that it closed in on him. I tried to design some side pullouts with no time to test, and I didn't use large enough bunge cord and apparently when he sat in the hammock the side pullouts came out of the ground from the stress. He went through 2 tents before he settled on one, so I think some of it was the Virginia blues and being basically ready to make some kind of changes. He can better discuss this when he gets back, though.

Also, he didn't have a lot of time to sort out options with his setup before he started his hike. It's possible that with more time to tweak his system he would have gotten something together that would have worked for him the entire way.
