Not-so-Awesome Hangs, a.k.a. sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do...

Sometimes you don't get to a site with beautiful views, perfectly spaced trees, or really anything much to offer but basic tie-out points. Although these sites can showcase a hammock's versatility.

Case in point: a "camping site", a.k.a. parking lot for camper vans, in southern Germany. In this case, hanging out with friends made up for the lack of ambiance.

No pics but at the moment I'm using my truck to hang at home. Suspended from my rails on the truck to a support beam on the carport... Hubby promised to sink me some posts soon. Our trees have a fence between them.

One of my favorite places in a pinch is on the corner of a chain link fence. Provided they put it in right to begin with.

Nice job at figuring it out.

I don't have any trees usable. I made a conduit turtledog stand for just this reason. For car camping with the fam it will go along so setup is where I want it not where it has to be.

Thanks guys. The next night I opted to semi-poach a lovely spot rather than listen, again, to the Polish dudes in the next campsite over partying all night...

Corner of a chain link fence -- that is a great idea to remember for the future.

Do what we all do in western Europe. Wild camping. It might officially not be allowed, but in 30 years of doing it, I have never had any problems. Just be sure to find a safe place out of sight. More for safety than because you might get bothered by the law (which isn't nasty about these things anyway). They will allow you to stay the night if you are gone the next day and keep nature as it is.

This is the 1st Mercedes Benz hammock stand I've seen - puts my Chevy Aveo hammock stand to shame :>)
