So in my practice set ups, I've been connecting the hammock directly to the tree straps using a marlin spike hitch, without whoopies or other adjustable line. The adjustments are not major, and for most locations I think the straps are long enough. Any problem?
Theres no problem with this at all. It keeps things mighty simple. The only downside is that you will have to redo the Marlin hitch sometimes to make adjustments (as opposed to pulling on a whoopie).
