    I Didn't Make It

I'm so sorry I couldn't make it to the hang. I'm sad and feeling defeated.
I tried to get through the snow storm but it just socked us in so fast.

But we tried, we really tried! It took Chief two hours just to get to me overcoming downed trees and stuck cars and even someone's mules in the road! After he reached me it took us too much time again to just get through Johnson City let alone over the mountain through Sam's Gap.

It started out as freezing rain and then quickly dumped 6" of wet heavy snow in a 2 hour period. Before I left my house I could hear trees popping and dropping in the woods behind me. And we watched transformers blowing everywhere with blue light explosions as we made our way out onto the main road.

By the time we got to town I-26 was a parking lot of tractor & trailers that didn't dare move and abandoned cars pushed off the road and in the ditches. When we got past all of that it gave us little time to make it but we pressed on anyway in hopes the flight delay would be longer than projected. But it was futile and the plane left 15 minutes before I even got to the parking lot.

It was quite an adventure and I'm kicking myself for not leaving well before the storm got here but who knew it would get that bad that fast and turn a 1.5 hour drive into a 5 hour ordeal!

Sorry Loki for worrying you that you would be stranded at the airport without me being there to get the rental car I had reserved. And you were such a good trooper about it!

But thank goodness for the wonderful Florida hangers that were in contact with me and organized your rescue and assisting me to contact the airport! Running Feather, Itsandy and lilricky you saved the day!!!
We have a great community here on HF and when things get tough the tough really get going!

Y'all have fun, Hugs to all and eat some Gumbo & Cobbler for me! I'm gonna try and pull my weekend out and make a showing at the Mt Rogers Hang tomorrow.

Keith from Dutchware sent me an Priority Mail envelope with a bunch of stuff for the raffle. I have handed it off to FloridaHanger to bring up so I don't bring the Flu up to share.
FloridaHanger is also bringing money for a raffle ticket for me. there are only two items I am interested in getting those are the " Bob Dustrude's 24" Quick Folding Buck Saw" the other sizes do not interest me, and the "Biolite woodfired electrical generating stove"
If I miss out on those consider the $5 as a donation towards expenses for the hang.
