Shock cord inside new Hennessy Hammock

I just received by Hennessy Explorer Deluxe. I have never slept in a hammock before, so looking forward to an overnight trip at the end of this month where I will be using my hammock. I plan to have a dry-run set up of the hammock at the park behind my house before the trip!

Last night I opened up the hammock in my house to check it out (and pack it up inside the snakeskins), and I noticed that there is, if I recall correctly, a shock cord with clips inside the hammock clipped to a ring inside the side of the hammock. I did not really pay much attention to it, but am wondering what this shock cord is to be used for?

    Thanks for the feedback!

There is a shock cord that in mine is tied to the rings on either side, on the outside. It is used to tie through the fly on to a tree, stake, something. The shock cord aspect keeps things from tearing. If you look at HH's site videos, the setup ones, you'll see him using it a lot. Is that what you're referring to?

Are they the shock cords pull outs attached to the outside edge of the hammock, one on each side, to create more room in the hammock when staked out or attached to the rainfly?

There are no shock cords on the inside of any of my Hennessy hammocks.

Mine has one also. O ring sewn on each side on the inside of the hammock. One O ring has a Shock cord connected to it.

I am currently using it to hold back the bug net.

    This could be it: http://hennessyhammock.com/catalog/c...er_ultralight/

The Double Bubble Radiant Pad is designed to clip onto rings inside the Explorers Ultralites, Explorer Deluxes, Survivors and between the two bottom layers of the Deep Jungle XL hammock.

When o-rings were installed inside the hammocks, I'm not sure.

My explorer ultralite is 7 years old so I don't have anything like that. It would be handy though.

    An answer from HH

we started putting the o-rings in our hammocks last year and we plan on having o-rings
put in all new hammocks by the end of the year. The purpose is to hold the reflector pads(which have clips on the sides) on the correct diagonal.

    Thanks
    Ann

Well the O-rings make since now but what about that Shock cord? lol..I am using it to hold back the bug net. Think that's what they meant for it to be used for?
