visiting Boston... and I'm sleeping on the balcony!

My family and I decided to drive up from Northern VA and visit the Boston area this week -- my wife's best friend and her husband live in Quincy about a block off the bay. I didn't think much about hammocking this week but I packed my ENO DN anyway. Lo and behold, it turns out that *tight* accommodations gave me an "excuse" to set up the hammock! Now, I'm hangin' on their balcony between a support post and a door, enjoying the absolutely PERFECT weather this week -- far better than the 100°+ and humidity back home!

    Well done on that spot.

I take it there wasn't a suitable spot in the basement to take advantage of the natural cooling?

    Cheers

Sweet set up. The weather here has actually taken a turn for the better. Actually pretty nice for hammocking...to back I am trapped in the office

How did you hook up to the door?

Brian, these homes are sort of a duplex/townhome style home -- the bottom floor and the top floors belong to different people/families.

So, the basement or lower level was not an option.

I just hope somebody don't come through that door in the morning to see how you slept.

I simply made a knot (marlin spike hitch w/ aluminum toggle) and jammed the strap at the top of the door -- the strap is pulling against the door, opposite the way it opens. And then I hoped for the best that I would't literally hit the deck!

Ideally, the strap and catch should be closest to the hinge side as possible... that is where the door is strongest.

haha.. fortunately, the door I'm hangin' from is not really being used -- there is access to the balcony from the end I took the picture!

no adults came alookin' in the AM but I did have three little rugrats come snooping and poking and patting me through the bugnet! LOL!

Nice! I lived in chelsea in a house almost the same. We always had something hanging on the bac porch. Hammock chair most of the time. Enjoy the cooler temp!
