    my DIY hand...thing?

SO, I saw those hand things on the ULA packs, and i liked them because my fingers get swollen when i hike long hikes, so i made my own, i just measure some small rope i had, and on the end i put little loops of old bike inner tube to add cushion to the ride, took me about 5 minutes

That's cool! What keikepono made are called "thumb loops". They attach to the front of your backpack's shoulder harnesses so you can hang your thumbs in them to prevent your hands from swinging as you walk. But they allow you to "unhook" quickly in case you fall.

The swollen hands syndrome is called "centrifucosis". It's a result of the centrifugal force created by swinging your arms causing blood to collect in your hands. I always thought that was a funny name. Good idea, K!!!

I saw a guy that had DIY versions of these, he had his mother in law sew nylon extensions to the load lifter straps. I use nordic walking poles, and I agree that it never happens when I use them. He didn't like poles, solved it for him

Mr. Pips says we should call them "thumb hammocks" That'll put this thread back on topic so the mods don't move it to the Donator section!
