That's good to know. We never ventured off-trail on the NCT and just stayed near the power lines at Eddington Creek and then camped along the river on the MRT side. Seems like the river was quite a ways away from the trail on the NCT side. How far off trail did you travel?

There's actually a small foot trail right along the river on the NCT side. You can pick it up at Eddington Creek, then follow the river all the way south almost to Red Bridge. Just follow the contour of the river.
Being low and next to the river gives you great views of the MRT side.
Less traveled = fewer people .
I've gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, make sure I stay here.

When I see lovers' names carved into a tree, I don't think it's cute. I think it's strange how so many people take knives on a date.

Great to know! Thanks for the info. That means you could almost do a complete loop along the river, just on the NCT side. I'll have to keep that in mind for the future.

In July 2011 my buddies and I backpacked on Grand Island in Michigan's upper peninsula (and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore). When we arrived at the Preservation Point campsite at the northwest corner of the island, my one buddy came back all excited that he had found the best place to hang his hammock. It was between two large trees near the edge of a sandy cliff overlooking Lake Superior and the rugged cliff faces that were around us. It was the best place for a campsite that I have ever seen.
