I'd rather be hanging.
Looks awesome Morelia! Also looks like a sweet spots for snakes. Lots of spots to sunbathe, tall grasses, etc. Definitely worth braving a few slitheries for that kind of spot.
Thanks
Yep. Nearly stepped on a Copperhead (Australian) on the way out there. Was literally about to put my boot down when I saw it. It was dead asleep.
Also saw a red-belly black swim off across the river when I approached.
Aussie snakes will wreck your day if you mess with them, and they're the main reason I carry an epirb.
But in the actual camp spot? Just curious Water dragons, and a bit further upstream, a turtle who disappeared too quick to photograph. I really love this place. It's not really accessible to the public. The falls themselves I believe are public, being a river corridor, but the land around is all private. They used to be open, but the public liability got to be too much for the private land owners who ran it.
It's kinda eerie (in a way that appeals to me) to see the rusting signs and overgrown trails from when it was open maybe ten years ago. And the metal guard fences washed flat in a big flood we had a couple years ago.
I walk 3-4 hours up the river from another point to get there without crossing private land.
The falls upstream:
**** pic was the right way up when I posted it.

40' up a beech tree.
Glad I took rest and refreshment, took 'em over an hour to stretcher rescue me.
Good to see another tree climber on the forum. Why did you need rescuing or was it a training exercise?
Fixed the photo for you...

Just a bit of light hearted training in the copper beeches outside the fire station.
I'm part of the specialist rescue team.
Liking the high hangs.
I fancy an overnight up in the canopy, after listening to a radio programme from someone doing just that 100' up an Atlas Cedar in the mountains of Morocco. Is there a thread about that (rigging, comfortable harnesses for sleeping, etc)?
Look up the member refreshing. He has lots of pics and videos of his nights in the trees.
