Its a goodie.. i pitch my 12' in a square and it covers my whole ridge line. Lots of tie put points. I have a few for canoe camping. We always set up tarp city at fishing base camp so we can hang around the fire, cook, and be merry without getting rained on. Asside from an unfortunated widow maker never had one fail and I've been using my oldest one for more than 10 years. Great starter tarp or a good tarp for canoe/car camping. My 12' is around 4 lbs with all the strings tied to it.
    Hope this helps.

I have one and its waterproof and all it just has too much stretch for my preference. I've never been able to get it pulled tight enough to not puddle somewhere in the middle or edges. I have the 16, maybe that's why.
Tonight I'm howlin' at a foreign moon, might as well be a junkie's spoon.

Here's what the 9 looks like set up. I've weathered hard rain storms in just fine too.

have you set that thing up in a Dimond shape to you Hammock?
Swing. mmmmmm. I dont know why but you putting the word swing out there makes me want pancakes.. I have no clue but that is what just happened.

No I havent. To be honest I dont have trees far enough apart to set it up like that. So IMHO I wouldnt go larger than the 12. The 9 looks good too, but you cant set it up in square mode and cover your hammock. I got the 12 because it fits my needs and can provide shelter for two hammocks if needed.

L.D. what is the ridge length on that in diamond? I'm just wondering. I might get one for summer/fall hiking and use the 12 when bad weather hits. I wont carry both of course. I'll just watch the weather and try to go by what they say. You know how it is: 20% chance of rain in the valley = 100% chance of rain in the mountains.

Yes you have to set the 9 up as a diamond and the ridge line is a good 12 foot! Plenty of coverage just take it down low during storms. The 12 is good for closing in and making a porch with your hiking poles.

Sweet. I like the way he has it set up in the picture. That is a very interesting way of doing that.

I played around with the Noah 12 last night for a little bit. I found that I can fold the outside corners back onto the tarp and make it a hex. I just need to figure out how to close the doors for winter time and what to use for doing that. I've seen pics of people using biners to do that (clip one strap to the other). I'm not sure if I like that idea though. I think I'd rather use cordage. Eh, I'll figure it out.

I think that says a bunch. Good starter, base camp, canoe/car tent.

Still for another 30 dollars or so, you can keep the 12' RL and knock off 3 lbs.

10 dollars per pound, on weight savings, still fits my budget.
