Any reason not to use this?

I am planning on using the tech line, from DIY gear, on my two piece ridge line on my tarp. Am I correct in assuming this will be "robust" enough for this purpose? I only ask b/c I only notice people using it for guy lines

Should be fine. I am using tech line for my structural ridge line. If it works for that it'll work for your tarp!

Other than it possibly being stronger than your tarp fabric? No, not really.

The 1.9mm is rated to 480 lbs; the 1.2mm to 285. I'd say that'll hold up just fine against pretty much anything a tarp can throw at it.

The tarp will give before the line does.
