Snake skins - What do you?

I've been looking through the DIY area and I want to make some snake skins for our kelty 12x12 tarps. I dont think I'll have a problem making them thanks to the instructions I found in the DIY area.

My "what do you" question is do you prefer the dual skin method or the single skin method. >>>> My mind is thinking I should never post that question worded like that.. but it works I guess. Maybe someone could make a poll on it. I'm leaning towards the single, but I want input on it. Maybe there are draw backs to each design that I dont see, especially for larger tarps.

I like the dual skin because the tarp (when furled) is smaller at the ends and fatter in the middle. Dual skins allow you to taper both halves to fit the task.

My preference is a single. It's a uniform width and very easy to furl/unfurl the tarp in a single step. My tarps are 10 x 12 and 10 x 11. I started with a piece of mesh 9" wide, sewed down the long edge, fold the seam over and sew again. Very simple to make. Having a bit of wiggle room inside for the tarp makes it easier to stuff, IMO. Hope this helps.

+1. I much prefer my single skin, or Python as opposed to two seperate skins. I always had to fight the "bubble" in the middle when I used two skins.

I also prefer the single tube. Much easier to get on and off. No bubbles in the middle to work against. I have the Warbonnet superfly so it is a big tarp. Fits great.

What Mike said! Although I have never tried a single - might look into that for myself.

I use doubles but this thread has me re-thinking that approach. Might have to convince MrsMustardman to fire up the ole' thread injector...

Well I made my single skin. I posted pics of it in the DIY area. I think it turned out very nicely. It took a little work, but I got them finished. I made one for my sons as well. I like em. I've already tried it out and I will really get to try it out soon.

I don't like the single tube. Made one for my wife thinking it would be easier.... but it wasn't. I vote for two.... YMMV
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
