I've made a few tarps this size, and putting the bottom tieouts 3' in from the corners has worked well for me.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Did you use Scott's 70d PU Ripstop on this? (just ordered some of the same for myself - woot! woot!) Looking forward to building my own tarp - it is a bit lighter/whiter than i had anticipated, but for the cost - can't complain but too much

This is something that I am giving serious consideration to. Do you have any pictures of how it looked buttoned up?
Yes, that is what material I used. I bought the 2ds and see no problem with them. It is lighter because the morning sun is catching it. It is a little darker but just nice for blending in with the woods.

Very nice tarp! Fits in quite nicely on your 'Hammock Farm'!!
Your comments and advise have convinved me to add the extra tie outs. I will post pictures in this thread when it is finished and buttoned up.
Thank you. I got to get a picture with all the hammocks hung.

Nice work.
I'll agree with the others, more tieouts means more set up options. With 5 tieouts per each side you can close the ends for doors, prop up the middle on trek poles/sticks, tilt the sidewalls for good views or added wind rain protection, etc..
The added tieouts are fairly negligable in terms of weight. The added set up options are priceless.
Was testing my new DIY tarp yesterday. Had it staked down fairly well. Fell asleep in the hammock listening to the wind gust. Was awakened by a loud "POP". Scared the snot out of me as I thought I had blown a tie-out. Took the tarp and hammock down, left the stakes in the ground. Today I am sealing the tarp and I found out what popped. Guess the tarp is constructed well.
Wow must have pulled pretty good to snap that.
Mighty fine effort sir well done
