    Question Thursday afternoon, late

I'm planning on leaving around Noon from work, Miss Garmin sez it will take me just under three hours to get there. I'll probably stop for lunch and to buy a couple of last minute things. Does anyone object to me making up a big pot of chili (maybe 3 to 4 pounds)? Better yet do we have a head count for the hot dog dinner? I can also bring a big bottle of mustard, catsup, relish and i can bring and chop up a bunch of onions on site as well. Never been to Hot Springs, is there a grocery store in the town? Or do i need to buy everything before leaving civilization?

There's not much in town. Depending on which direction you come, the last sizeable town will be Mars Hill, which has a grocery store or two. If there's a need, I can pick some things up to contribute as well.

I'll be arriving Friday afternoon/evening (possibly with my little brother) and wouldn't miss the potluck on Sat. after kayaking for anything!

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

    Hey !

I am planning on attending. It will be my first hang !

We (my lady and I ) just made our first DIY hammock after procuring some great products/items from two great vendors : Butt In A Sling and DIY Gear Supply. The second hammock should be completed soon and we will be making bugnets, PLUQs and modding tarps in the next couple weeks. Very excited ! Did the first test hang here in the yard.....super comfortable ! Adding Knotty mods too .

Been wanting to try hanging for years and after a very recent multi-day trip in the Shining Rock Wilderness Area, the lady and I figured we'd go all in and start right away. Saw literally thousands of places to hang as compared to a few mostly flat places for even our small 2 person tent. (Personally, been a tarp/bivy sack packer for many years).

I have spoken with Loki and he said to make this offer public...here it goes!

I am a co-founder of an educational organization / business called Mountain Forge that is based here in Asheville / Southern Appalachia.

We offer programs in everything from self defense ( Combat Systema ), to wilderness (and beyond) emergency care, to all kinds of outdoor skills, including primitive skills.

For example, I will be teaching a Land Navigation class in the area on Saturday, September 22nd.

We also have weekly, ongoing Combat Systema/self defense programs for people of all ages, abilities and genders. We are proud to say that we are the local affiliate of the International Combat Systema Association.

What we are offering as a prize for attendees is a $40 gift certificate, applicable to any of our programs/classes (with an expiration date 6 months from issuance).

Further details about us, Combat Systema and everything we do are available at our website : www.mountainforge.org

    and our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/wncmountainforge

Lots of programs planned for throughout the year.

Looking forward to meeting y'all ! Thanks !
