    DIY TQ Help?

Im building a new TQ and just want to know what people thank about the number of baffles to use? My design has 8 right now at arround 9" apart. Is that enough for 2 1/2" baffles and 10 oz of 900 fp down? Any help would be usefull.

What are the length & width of your quilt?

    +1 to MAD's questions.

9" is too far apart for consistent down control. 5" +/- is better.

72" x 55" are the dementions. but what im guessing is that I should double the number of baffles? Is that right. That would put a baffle at arround 4 1/2" appart. I can do that. thank you.

You are only going to get a loft of 2" to 2-1/4" out of that. I would make my baffle height 1-1/4" and the spacing at 4-3/4".

Also, when I cut my fabric, I add 5% to the length and width because that amount somehow gets lost in the sewing.

If you are going to use this on the ground, the 55" width is justified. However, that is very wide for a hammock quilt. Mine are only 40" wide and I weigh 200 pounds. Most folks go with a width somewhere in the 40's" range.

But, this is your quilt, so make it like you want to. The comments from me and others are offered as comparisons. Can't wait to see the pictures of your quilt!
