    Phoenix Rocks !

Just got back fom two nights in the White mountains of New Hampshire. Used my new 40* Phoenix. It got down to 52* and 54* very pleasant weather. I was plenty warm and comfy. Perfect choice for spring ,summer, early fall in New England . Thank you HammockGear !

Ps. I have a zero degree phoenix. Crossing eyes & fingers north ga. Tn or nc will give me plenty of weather opportunities to use it.

Cragdwella, thanks for the post. I am looking at getting a 20 degree Phoenix. I hear nothing but good things about Phoenix and HG.

I just gotnbach from the Whites as well with my 20* Phoenix and I over heated both nights at about 2 am. Was also using my 20* Burrow and that may have beem the problem. Better to warm than cold. I had similar temps too. I was up around Mt. Jefferson.

I am still. Fighting a bit with lower leg insulation. Made a Reflectix leg thing and stuffed it in
The Burrow, but didn't like the way it felt. I don't think it would be a problem wit cooler weather when I am wearing my long johns, but with bear legs, not so good.

I love how light the Pheonix is (16 oz in M50) is and am willing to put up with the sit pad for lower leg insulation for the weight savings.

I agree about the weight savings. Also the reason I got the 40* for summer is I was afraid of the overheating thing. But now I am wondering how long into the season I can take the 40* ? The whites are the best ! Hope to get up there again real soon.

Answer: Probably longer than you think. Nobody dies from being exposed to 10F less than they were absolutely prepared for. But a lot of folks don't know how much a UQ like this can extend the hiking and camping season into the Fall without spending again.

Worst case: You redundantly carry this compact and lw quilt along with the 20F or 0F you fear you will need, and find out the redundancy was of the heavier one.

NOT, HOWEVER, that anyone should take the extremes of weather in the White Mountains for granted and be foolish.
