Good point. I was planning on trying to get my hands on a small clip on fan. Hydration is going to be key. I've got my MSR miniworks, so as long as there's a stream nearby I should be good. I'm going to bring plenty to drink in the ice chest, but I was planning on leaving that at the car. I think I'll take some time to re-read some of the post about keeping cool. Perhaps some others will post suggestions here.

    Yah,

I'm bringing the Sawyer Squeeze to carry while hiking and the Katadyn Base Camp for, well, the base camp. We'll also be caching water in the car, and maybe some at the other two trailheads. Mike and I may hike the loop on Saturday, and then shuttle a car so we can hike out to FM149 on Sunday.

Gonna try and do some baking, too. I've gotten some neat stuff from PIF for a two man set up and the one man bake kit I've already put together if that doesn't work out well. It might not seem so, but having a big breakfast and supper with a light lunch and moist snacks during the day will help with the heat---so its bisuits and gravy for breakfast and inamon bread for supper dessert. If I don't crash and burn on the project---

Mike did a tour in the sandbox, so he'll have some insights, too.

Looking into this... What's the total mileage of the trek? I'm on my phone and having trouble seeing what I want to see...

Post edit... Just realized I am working this weekend on nights no less... Guess I won't make it this time... Maybe some other hang I'll get to meet some of you nice fellows...

I can defiantly say a ridgeline fan helps a whole bunch. Academy sports had some carabiner fans (where I got mine) and Walmart also at one time.

From Parking Lot 2 to the Camp Site, its about half a mile, give or take. The route takes you across two creek beds, which may or may not contain water depending on how much rain we've had, to the top of a hill about 40 feet higher than the lowest creek bed. Far enough from the cars so that it won't be a car-camping site, but close enough so that we can cache water and food at the cars, or make a couple of trips for extra gear if you want. If the spot I'm looking at on the map is good, we will be in near stealth camp mode. Finding trees should be no problem.

From the Camp Site there are a variety of possibilities. The loop next to which we'll be camping is about 5-6 miles in total length. That's what I'm planning on doing Saturday.

If you want to hike in from a longer distance, there are two possibilities. You can start at Parking Lot #1 and hike about 3 1/2 miles if you take the main trail, and a a bit further if you take the loops.

If you want to hike even further, Parking Lot #2 is about 8 miles from Parking lot #1.

    1. Single layer hammock treated with permethrin...a no-brainer
    2. Large mesh bug net, also treated...breeze in, bugs out
    3. CoolMax bag liner...some prefer silk
    4. O2Cool fan...hung on rl/from WM
