I should get there around noon on Saturday.

I stayed there saturday night. It is probably easiest to drive in from Decatur on 380. After passing the 114 intersection, there is a light at the turn to 1658. The turn to 2952 is easy to find. Also, there is a sign on the right side of the road for the turn to the left for Wise County Park. I arrived at 6 p.m. with the temp at 104. Sites 18 and 19 were taken, so I set up up at site 10. There are plenty of trees at most sites. If you want to take a dip, sites 18 and 19 are the best. I stayed up the hill in the hope of catching a breeze. I checked out the walking trail there. It is about 2 miles to the end and back. I put $5 in an envelope and placed it at a drop box at the office building. There is no water at the sites. There is water at the big restroom with the showers. The owls were hooting and the coyotes were yelping during the night. I'll try to make it again this saturday night.
Hey Gimpy, thanks for the information. I'm glad to hear that you could hear the wildlife. I was thinking that 18 and 19 would be best, but I'm worried that others feel the same way! I thought that site 10 would be our best bet for a breeze, but if there's no wind at all, what can you do?
I'll be shootin for high noon Friday.
It's awesome to see some of the OK folk making the drive! See you Friday Incoming.
What time is everyone planning on getting there... Mine is going to be mid afternoon I hope on Friday, but with probably 6 hrs in the saddle I may have to stop and stretch out for a while somewhere in the middle...
As dorky as it sounds, I'm kind of excited... Never driven half way across the state(might be more than half way) just to hang out with a bunch of strangers...

I'll get out there about 9 or 10 to try and secure a nice spot. I guess I'm a dork as well, because I'm excited too!
This looks like a fun time with great folks. I can't wait for may schedule to open up to get out in the woods again but it will be a couple of more months.
When you get back from this trip, I'll start a thread for the annual Fall Texas Group Hang in November. I may even start the thread sooner. It's always good to have the next trip to look forward to.
Have fun!
My next trip, other than random over nights I shove in, will be a few nights in garner state park beginning of September, and then i have a motorcycle show hang thing sometime in October, and then the fall hang in November... It's shaping up to be a pretty good rest of the year...
