I don't use a slip knot - I just make sure the webbing is lined up with itself. If I have enough left over, I run the free end of the webbing back through the biner to keep it in line. Haven't had a problem when the webbing was lined up...slipped slowly to the ground once when I forgot to do that.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
I think the slip knot just gives you more peace of mind. The velcro fasteners someone mentioned sound interesting, but thats 2 more things to keep up with.

I don't use knots and have yet to slip with tubular nylon or polyester. I think what Jeff said about making sure the webbing is lined up is key. I also think it is prudent to make certain the webbing is exactly 180 degress opposite of whatever type of line you are using to the hammock.
When it goes over their heads, it really doesn't matter how high it is.
I dont really want to read thru 39 pages of this stuff....
where do I get "tubular" nylon or the Poly webbing that meets the weight tension requirements?
What length should each end be?
Anyone have that extra length left over for sale?

Get busy living, or get busy dying.
Tubular webbing is heavy and absorbs water. Poly webbing can also be a bit heavy. Both are available at REI or climbing/outfitters. Ed Speer sells good nylon webbing for a good price. The nylon webbing stretches the first few times you use it.
Cool glad it works.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
The hanger formly known as "hammock engineer".
Yeah, I did use the teardrop shaped carabiniers because the big rounded side approximates the shape of the ring. It was a snug fit for the webbing. The other end of course is just right for a spectra or other climbing rope. Unfortunately im using stainless steel carabiniers and their is a wieght penalty for that.
Harbor Freight carries polyester strapping:

You may have a retail store near you:

Just cut the webbing and discard the hooks, heat seal the cut ends with matches/lighter, sew new loops in one or both ends and you're good to go.

You can get polyester webbing, which is what I am currently using, at Strapworks. I will probably not go back to tubular nylon for a variety of reasons at this point. If you choose tubular nylon, it is available at any REI.
