I will try that. Have an REI couple miles away! Thanks for posting!

Dont forget when using rings and straps you load them from the top then back up this way you have all the wt on the rings against the strap then pull the tag up through the rings and tie a hitch with a slip tag pull, no slipping easy to adjust, i also use one ring to adj my ridge line from inside to outside, hang to hang. I hope this helps. I will try to add pics.
I use a very similar setup on my Dutchware NylonD, only with 15" Amsteel Continuous Loops and Dutchware 12' Polyester Tree Straps. I find it faster to set up and easier to adjust than Cinch Buckles, despite needing a slipped Half Hitch to keep it secure.
Stop me if you've heard this one before... Or before I hurt myself...
Trying a new set up and it hasn't dropped me or slipped yet. I'm using a metal tri glide on webbing lopped around the middle bar and my amsteel loop draped around the webbing in the opposite direction pinching/squeezing the webbing around the the middle bar. For it to fail the middle bar would have to bend/crush but it is being pressured on all sides. Or the webbing would have to slip past the amsteel and around the middle bar.
Is this too good/simple to be true?

I know I'm not the only one to try these things, what have your experiences been?

Look at the multi buckle from Ripstopbytheroll. It can be used in the same manner as your are using the triglide.
+1
This is also exactly how the Dutch buckle is designed to be used, with the added bonus of a small shock cord loop to prevent your amsteel loop from coming off accidentally. I'm on the larger side, and that system never dropped me once.
