i felt the same way about the ropes from tarp to rings shrek. i don't feel like there was any clarity about length or type. apparently though, many are using spiderline, which is some sort of yachting line

so i tied the rings together using a full turn and 2 half hitches, ran the rope through the channel on my claytor, then attached that end to the loose end from the full turn and 2 half hitches using a fisherman's knot.
after i eat dinner i'm going to see if it holds. wish me luck
it did! and my first set up took about 30 seconds! woohoo thanks guys
so i thought of something while trying out different tying configurations for the line to rings. people showed concern of different forces pulling the rings in different directions. well i used the anchor hitch as described on page 12, but, seeing as how i have a claytor hammock, i used to rope ends coming from the hammock instead of 1. so i tied on 2 seperate anchor hitches, each going a different way around the rings, coming from each side of the hammock channel. these equal pulls should put equal force on the set of rings and keep them together.
right?
I'm going through the same thing myself, i've got a Claytor, the rings (thank you MRPrez), webbing, and some fairly nice dyneema cord, I was thinking of replacing the stock webbing with the dyneema to the rings but can anyone enlighten me on the BEST way to do this as regards to the Claytor having a channel, should I double it up (the cord)? use a prussik, anchor? I cant read the entire post again and it seems like most people have a whipped end to work with.
Any help would be great thanks.

I like the look of the 2nd option, thanks for the pics.
Do you think there might be an issue with the cord cutting through the channel? Looks like pretty thin stuff. Just a thought.

I was thinking the exact same thing, then I thought of this:
Cut a piece of webbing 1 foot long? insert your paracord or other cord in to that one and viola! you have a thicker cord inside the channel...
I will try using paracord and double it, or I will fingerbraid paracord to a thicker line that still has alot of strength to it.
