Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

I also found out something while I was laying in my hammock Thursday night. I was using my speer webbing for the first time. I was hanging on trees around 16 or so feet apart. This is why I love having long straps.
Well after I was laying in it for a few hours (I had earlier retighten the straps a couple of times to take up the stretch), I all the sudden fell about 3 or so inches and then bounced around in mid air. This scared the crap out of me and I yelled a few choice words. I did not feel the ground and was worried since 1 foot to the left of me was the edge of a 3 foot drop then the creek.
The only thing I could figure out is that the slack went through my biner all at once. Anything else would have sent me to the ground, and possibly the water.
All in all a funny experience.

Guys!
Is it possible to use two biniers instead of descendin rings? I asked this question b/c i cant find any rings in our locality and my only option (if carabineirs would not work) is to fabricate one out of stainless steel rods (aluminum rods are difficult to bend and weld).
Hi
I had the same problem and was not able to buy any of the descending rings here in Perth, so I rang around and was able to find some at my local fastener company who had these 316 stainless steel rings, 5 mm (1/4 inch) thick with a 37 mm (1 1/2 inch) inside diameter cost me AU$0.80c each
Will REI not ship overseas? http://www.rei.com/product/471123
Just curious.
