You correctly surmise that lots of people make all kinds of modifications to their hammocks and/or tarps. I'm pretty unadventurous on that scale; I swapped out the stock straps on my Claytor JH, but that's it.

Just couldn't stand the "crickets chirping" on your thread, so I threw in my two cents to get things started.

I modified my Hennessey Scout hammock to be asymetrical (like my ULB).

I also made longer knotted ropes for my Travel Hammock.

That's it- SO FAR ! But, I do have rings, cinch buckles, webbing straps, and rope to play with now, so I may have more to report soon

I added a zipper to my HHULB. I am currently using the figure 9 (size small) and my homemade yellow cat tarp.

I did the cinch buckle mod on my DD, and will also use it on my HH. Also, upgraded my tarp to a Speer. Am sending my HH in this week for the zipper mod offered by 2Qs.

Lots of mods on this site! A lot of them are with the suspension...I've done a few variations on ring buckles and cinch buckles, straps and cords, etc. Other than that I've just made my own stuff instead of modding existing gear.

Though I'm seriously considering buying a Mt Washington and cutting it into two half-underquilts... Seriously...

That would save the amount of time I need to save for one. I could just go halvesies on one.
