We have a good group going! A few of this group are gonna stay near the boat ramp and car camp and there are some who will roll in on Saturday morning instead of Friday. But the rest of us will venture up Slick Rock Creek and stay there for the weekend.
I will be bringing a bag of charcoal and a grate like always, so bring something to grill for first night in!

Not positive. I'm trying to get the GF to figure out that it's not going to kill her to go camping. She's accepted that she'll camp at least one day but not sure if it will be with the group or if we will just hit Santeetlah. Maybe it's time to upgrade to a more adventurous girlfriend? <sigh>
Btw, was in that area today. Looks like they are doing some construction/renovations on the dam so there is a lot of heavy equipment parked near the launch/recovery site and on both sides of the bridge.

As of now we are planning to be out there Friday. Not positive on both nights. That would be Rebecca and myself. Be gentle, she's a first time camper. Alas, I have a single hammock camping rig so expect us to be in a small tent. (sigh) I know... I know...
Not a problem Mike. There will be other women there so maybe that will help her feel more comfortable. Some are camping up the creek but two of them will be camping in the campground there near the boat ramp. Tell her there is a port-a-john there too. But no other facilities unless you consider bathing in the creek amenities!
Don't forget to bring something for Friday nights campfire grill, I got the charcoal today and for myself a steak!

Dare I ask what the average age of this group is? The GF is rather curious to know.
Meanwhile, trying to think of something good for the grill. I know she is bringing Marsh mellows. One just can't camp without them!
Average age is between 40 & 60 mostly.
Freeze a couple of steaks and wrap up some veggies in foil, throw it in the freezer so it keeps until dinner. Have you seen the pre-cooked rice by Uncle Ben's at the grocery? Also when paddling across if a cooler doesn't fit like in my kayak place it on the floor of your craft because this lake is COLD! Good to keep the beverages cold too, in a mesh bag thrown over in the creek tied to a tree or rock! This isn't backpacking so you can bring heavier stuff...like a nice chair!
