5 yds of down proof 1.1 oz ripstop nylon - $24.75
1 yd of NoSeeUm netting - baffles - $3.25
1 yd Union Tape - $1.35

The time is hard to measure. Lots of planning which I enjoy. Thread injecting was mostly done while watching the British Open last weekend. A few hours in the evenings when I had nothing else on my schedule (with 2 teenagers and being Assistant Scout Master that doesn't happen often)......I have no idea.

First of all thanks for all the compliments. Well, you asked for it so here are the details of how I made the corners.

The following photos were taken from my test piece that I had already ripped the stitching out of, so pretend that the upper left corner here is intact. I drew the finished size trapazoid (for me 50"-38" x 72") then added a line parallel to the edges 2" out (this will be the sides) and another a further 2" out (this is for hem and seam allowance). This test section would be an upper corner. To the bottom right would be the center of the quilt.

To form the corner, fold the fabric so both 'right' faces are in, or wrong side out. Match the outside edges and make the fold right on the corner of your base trapezoid. Again imagine that the upper left goes all the way to a point.

Now, line things up by looking through the fabric and pin when both the extended lines match up. This photo (ignore the pin here) shows the seam not yet lined up. Viewing through the fabric was actually much easier on my Forest Green nylon than with this Navy silnylon scrap that I used.

Here they are lined up. Pin above the 2" seam and inject thread for 2" starting at the folded edge (or whatever your baffle height is), don't forget to back stitch the beginning and end of your stitch line.

Now trim off the point about 3/4" from the stitch line you just made, and make a rolled hem to prevent down loss.

Flip it back right side out and you've made a corner. Repeat 3 more times. Oops I forgot to mention that I drew the lines on the wrong side in this sample the lines should all be on the inside (actually with the Forest Green the Sharpie bled through so much I couldn't tell which side I drew on.

Do you peel the tape off after the baffle is sewn to the top and bottom piece?

Yes, after each one was sewn top and bottom I removed the tape. I probably could have gotten it off after they were all attached, but it would have been harder.

Great write up ..very informative thank you this will help when I make my winter quilt..Just made a sewn through summer quilt Bought some fabric markers but they didn't work so I just winged it lol all in all came out ok 11oz but the baffles are all a little bigger or smaller lol I call it my "custom quilt "
