    Arrowhead Equipment Toxaway Tarp

Just rigged up my new Toxaway Tarp from Arrowhead Equipment. It is Stealth Brown, and I think I'll be very happy with this tarp. I really only see myself looking for something else if I want doors. Even then, I'd probably look into an add-on kit. If you want deets, you can check out the tarp's specifications at http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com/a...s/show/1869837Anyway, here goes:

It's a deceptively small and light package for what you get. 12' ridgeline and 14.25oz. I got the stealth brown, which seems to go very well with my grey WBBB. Here it is next to my BB and a 16oz pop can.

The ridgeline seems to be very well sewn. I haven't seam sealed it yet, and I'm wondering if it's necessary to do so. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

The coverage on this tarp is amazing. There's a lot of room for error and I think this is a great choice for beginners who are looking for a do-it-all tarp. I can't imagine what kind of weather I'd have to be in to get wet under this tarp. Even with an open setup (like porch mode) there is still very good coverage and I think I could keep dry in a downpour. Either way, I'll update this review once I have a chance to get it out in some rain. However, it might be a while, as here in Indiana with the drought, the trees are shedding limbs at the slightest breeze, so I'm playing it safe for now.

I set it up outside my apartment and took a few pictures of it in various modes.

    Porch mode

    Porch mode from the side

    Pitched high from the side

Pitched low (where'd my BB go?!)

Pitched low from the side (oh, there it is)

Be sure and try to make the Halloween hang. We'll round up the Toxaways and cordon off an area

Looks nice! Like the brown color. I have one in green. Well made. I recommend to go ahead and seal the seam. Water will find its way through the holes made by stitching the sides together. since its on top; it will drop water right on top of you. Cheap insurance in my book.

Sealed mine, with the tube sent with the Tox. Just the ridge line seam, and undersides of corresponding D-ring patches, that attach to the Tarp RL.

Takes only minutes to seal, While you can end up under a leaky seam all night!

The stitching is superb from AHE. Might not leak, but any well sewn seam not sealed, is hardly the maker's fault. Especially when they include a free tube of sealant with each tarp shipment

It looks like it has good coverage on the ends. I've seen some hex tarps that have too pointy of an end, nearly exposing your feet and head as you lay on the diagonal. This one looks like it flairs out nice and wide at the ends. Love the brown!

REVIEW UPDATE: Harriman Hang with Storms

Got out for an overnight in Harriman State Park and had the chance to really push this tarp to its capabilities.

Since I wrote my review, I rigged up a full-length tarp ridgeline, and attached the tarp using prussik loops. I then used some cut up leggings for tarp skins. I love my tarp suspension and don't see myself changing it any time soon. The skins, on the other hand, I'm going to scrap for ones made out of mosquito netting. The leggings get waterlogged too easily.

    COLOR
I love the color of this tarp. I was hanging in an area where I was not allowed, but the tarp blends in very well with its surroundings. With the sun setting, and the fact that it has the coverage to completely conceal my site, it would have been very hard for somebody to spot me. Here's my set-up in the morning.

    COVERAGE
There was some pretty heavy, sustained downpours for 45 minutes or so. It was somewhat windy, but I couldn't tell from under the Toxaway. The only water that made it under the tarp was some misting from one of the open ends. However, myself and my gear stayed largely dry. Here's a picture with everything that was covered by the tarp.

Toxaway Tarps are perfect for me. I have the brown one and it is awesome. Great setup you have there and nice pictures for those who have not yet seen the Toxaway Tarp from AHE.
    Take care,

Picked one up during Paul's sale. Finally used it last weekend. Very happy with it all the way around.
