    Ridgeline. I don't guess I get it!

Ok. So I tried putting a ridgeline on my GTSB Pro. Not concerned with the bugnet. I hear and see where people attach them and say they don't bear any weight. How does that work? Every time I rigged mine, it bore weight. I tried the suspension line that came with the hammock, only to discover 30 min later that it was stretching. TGFP! (thank goodness for paracord) I got a better lay but the ridgeline was still fiddle string tight. Can someone help me out?

    Thanks,
    Brian

I think people mean its not under great weight like your suspension. Some times I play my ridgeline like a bass. I made a long whoopie out of amsteele and use it for the ridgeline. That way I have an extra suspension if I wreck one.

You don't need a ridgeline. Maybe you could do without one? I like them mostly because I hang stuff off them.

If your ridgeline is tight, play with the hang angle of your straps, usally pushing them higher and lowering your hammock up will loosen your ridge line. Personally I dont care so much about my RL if it is fiddle string tight or a little loose. If the hammock has got a good lay, that's all I care about.

Yep, raise your tree straps higher and keep the hammock low. If you can't get the straps high enough, then your trees are too far apart.

Like sidewinder I don't know that I need one with my suspension system but it is a good place to hang my organizer.

I felt that the gtsbp needed a ridge line just to keep the netting off your face without having to carry all the extra line seperate, so I took one of the stretchy cords that came with it and went through the bugnetting this gives just enough to not cause the holes in the net to rip...

The stock cord stretched so you went to para cord?
Bit confused with that one, since para cord is pretty well known for stretching and the stock cord never stretched a bit for me... It is a bit heavy and stiff so the knots usually tighten up a bit more when loaded since its hard to really get them tight by hand...

Like they said, the ridge line will always have some tension...
Try hanging the hammock a few times with out the RL. If the RL is too tight its likely because your hanging the hammock too tight... hanging it without the ridge line will help you get used to how much sag it should have. Then the RL will help to fine tune and keep everything consistent.

The suspension line would give 10 inches where paracord only gave 3. I rehung it today to try once again and figured it out.
