DIY-ing it up

I'm kinda new to DIY, one of those guys that never thought he could sew until he started sewing. I ran a couple of test seams on a tent footprint, and thene away I went with a down topquilt. I just thought I'd post my latest project to encourage those of us who are intimidated by a sewing machine. It's really nothing magical, just putting thread into fabric. If you haven't and want to try, check out craigslist and buy a used machine and just give it a shot. You might find out, like me, that it's easier than you expected.

Here's the finished quilt, 2.5" of loft, 15-20 degree rating:

All balled up. I was AMAZED at how small it got:

And a sack that I made for my whole setup and weight. Yeah, yeah, it's heavy:

And this is my favorite DIY project, 8 weeks and 6 days in the making. This will be my first of this kind.

I was amazed by the results of your quilt, but nothing in comparison to your latest DIY! Congratulations, this last project will fill your life with purpose and memories that will last generations!
