    Talking Greetings from da U.P.

Hi everyone. After a few weeks of lurking I finally got a chance to get out and hang. I neglected to bring snacks, so I was only out for a few hours... but I definitely have a new favourite reading spot.

I'm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and have been looking for a camping setup. One day I borrowed a cloth hammockl; ten hours later it was too dark to read and I knew two things: #1 I needed to find dinner, #2 I didn't want to sleep on the ground with this many trees around. I was going to DIY my hammock and TQ but found great deals from BIAS and here on HF.

I have a BIAS WW (with Knotty's mod and ARL, thanks Brian/tncamper), BIAS bugnet, and DIY climashield apex TQ (made by G.L.P., fantastic work). I also have materials for a silnylon hex-tarp and insultex UQ (from DIY Gear Supply, thanks Scott) just waiting for me to find a thread injector.

I'd write more, but I see a beautiful day outside my window (and my BIAS is already strapped to my camelbak) so I'm going to go hike until I find two inviting trees...

Welcome - I spent 4 great years in Houghton and miss it when we have heat indexes of 105-110 in Tennessee.

Yardman: I lived in central KY for 8 years before coming up here, I don't miss the heat (or the humidity) at all :P . In a year or so I'll have to leave the UP for a while, but I hope to make it back.

DivaB: I also lived in North-eastern Ohio (my parents moved every few years when I was growing up). I have many fond memories of the Towpath Trail. We'd go out and bike on it every other weekend during the summer... my parents had us going 40 miles/day by the time I was 8.
