Sneak Peek: New Hammock from Hammock Bliss

Dov and Mark from Hammock Bliss happened to be stopping off in Flagstaff on their way to the OR show in SLC and invited me over for a sneak peek at their new hammock. I'll have to say I'm impressed. It's got a great, flat lay without leg pressure or hyperextension. This is a design that many here on the forums have tried to master and I think Mark has tweaked it into production.

This prototype is missing the bug netting and tarp, but I'm told they are working on both for an October launch.

More details and photos on my blog post:

When all is said and done, I think it will be in the $100 range with the bug netting, etc.

They were throwing around prices but a lot of it is based on final fabric choices and manufacturing considerations. Dov just returned from their factory in Bali and I learned some very interesting things about manufacturing issues in Indonesia.

I work with factories in Surabaya ... I can pretty much imagine what those things are!

Looks cool. Thanks for the sneak peek. Will it work with standard under quilts or is it designed for pad use only?

For all intents, it is a gathered-end hammock, so any under quilt will work. The pad sleeve adds some structure and aids in flattening out the hammock somewhat, but it isn't necessary if you use quilts.

The hammock is also "reversible"; you can flip it over to sleep in the diagonal that is more comfortable for you.

Very intriguing! I'm a total noob who bought a Hammock Bliss double just to lounge in, but ended up finding this forum and got interested in the possibility of hammock camping. I have a total of four nights spent in the woods with the Hammock Bliss, so take this with a grain of salt... but, it's much more comfortable than the DIY hammocks made from Tableclothfactory.com blanks that I've tried in the back yard. If there was a Hammock Bliss hammock with flat lay, bug net and decent tarp that was priced in the $100 range, I'd absolutely buy it in a heart beat.
