    newbie from the UK

Hi from the UK.. im Vinny, and i bought 2 hammocks last year, but have hardly used them due to the difficulty i had hanging them properly.

Thanks to a bit of lurking here, and another hammock website, i decided to give it another go. So ive spent most of today modifying my hammock to be quicker and easier to put up:
-It did have, at each end: 10 or so ropes gathered into a loop approx 50cm from the end. Then a 2m rope to tie onto that and a tree.
-It now has, at each end: a short length of climbing cord connected to a cam buckle. Then 2.5m or 25mm webbing with a wire-gate carabiner on the end. I'll post pics if requested.

I lied down in it for about 15mins while adjusting a ridge line i put in and almost fell asleep. So much more comfy than a tent floor and camping mat.

    Welcome to the forum.

What sort of hammock is that you have - sounds like the kind you put up in the garden rather than camping? Pics would be good.

Wow, didnt expect such a warm welcome!

    Since pics have been requested:

The Gelert Mini, a piece of rubbish really.. too narrow and finicky to put up. but i am keeping it to hold gear or as a chair. Only cost £6.

    The TrekMates Expidition -£15:

Hung up, with the new webbing system (and a ridgeline to keep constant sag):

    What do you think?
