What is the episode # or title or anything that would help someone find that episode?
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Surviorman used a hammock out of a hot air ballon a couple of weeks ago.
8/20/2008: Bear's Essentials
It was a small bit but I was thrilled.
surviorman is by far the better of the two he does not make stupid tricks like jumping from rock to rock but that is a whole different thread and better left to a different forum.
A side note les Stroud surviorman has made hammock's on a few shows one out of fishing net and as you say one out of hot air balloon and one out of tree limbs with leaves for a bottom.
He's my favorite

Yes I watched the Bear Essentials episode. That "hammock" made of vines was very unrealistic to sleep in IMO. They probably cut after he laid in the thing and shacked up in the Amazonian Hilton somewhere .
Bear is a bada$$ though. Anyone who powerglides over Mt. Everest or drinks water from elephant dung has some serious issues..lol. His strength and climbing abilities are unreal! He's over the top in the gross factor with his survival feasts.
I remember the one where Les made a hammock out of the hot-air balloon material.
Bear's show seems like a good primer on how to kill yourself but I credit him with doing more to stay fed, even if it disgusting beyond words. However I always get a kick out of him eating stuff raw and later building a fire? He still has a useful tip here and there.
Les' show is more along the lines of what is somewhat realistic for a person given a day-hike gone to hell situation and he's far more cautious about his activities. I find his to be the more helpful show.
Bear's show is more entertaining though. My wife likes to see how he will soak himself to the bone in freezing water in each episode.
"Now you shouldn't do this b/c it'll kill you, but I'm gonna show you how I'm dumb enough to try it anyway" (because I have a medical crew, hot capuccino and a warm hotel waiting on me when I'm done...) - Bear, paraphrased
All this shows why it's a good idea to pack a light travel hammock in your day-hiking gear! Shelter is one of the ten essentials anyway!

Why didn't someone tell me sooner? I don't HAVE to sleep on the ground!
