This is my first attempt at... whatever you call this suspension method. Any comments/suggestions are welcome.
A little background info. The trees are too far apart, but it's what I have to work with at the moment. Using a pole to shorten the distance is my next move.
The suspension line is 1/8th Amsteel [1] essentially run from tree to tree.
I had to use webbing straps on the trees for several reasons and they did stretch some over time that required tightening (once or twice), and they're as high as I can get them without using a ladder.
The hammock is an ENO DN. The ends are separated 83% of the length. I was able to get diagonal, on my side [2], and almost on my stomach. Since then I've added some extra loops to increase or decrease the sag.
With all 5' 10", 300+ lbs of me stretched out, well let's just say "daddy can play bass" on the line. Also, having something to grab on to helped a lot when getting up.
All in all, it was a comfortable night despite the heat. Waking up not achy, stiff and creaky is kinda nice.
[1] This is great stuff, smaller than paracord and 2300 lb test.
[2] My feet were a little high, but that's easily fixed.
