I got one of these at the WW for 1.69. It seems to do a good job, but I just got it, so I can't report about battery life yet. Foam blades keep from hurting my bugnet (or my head)

how did you rig it so it works without the repellant...just wondering?

I use an OFF Clip-on fan. I pulled the repellent out of it and rigged it so that it would turn on without the repellant. Now it makes a nice, quiet, little fan. It has an impellar style fan that is encased, so there are no "blades" to worry about. And, it has a belt clip that clips right on the your hammock RL without any modification. It works well for me. YMMV.

Yep, got mine at a local Walmart for $1.63, swapped out the AAA battery with a good one that lasted all night this past Sat.

how did you rig it so it works without the repellant...just wondering?

There is a little switch under the cover that the repellant cartridge is supposed to depress when the cover is shut. I cut a little plastic piece off of the packaging and put it over the little switch where the cartridge normally goes. Works like a charm.

I like the Off! mod! I found one of those and it didn't keep the skeeters away for anything. Sounds like it's time to put it to another use!

On the older blue ones... There is a slit in the cover with a little paddle under the opening... If you just press your finger in there hard enough you can depress it far enough to get the switch to come on... I have also used a zipper "handle" to push it in before i knew my finger fit...

I picked up a little "neck fan" from Wal-Mart for $5! It runs off two AA batteries & works great!

Nu, I picked up the same thing (little black rectangle) at the same time I got the two 02 fans. It seemed they were just more efficient, however, the Hennessy has a built in storage thingy on the ridgeline that would hold it perfectly where I wanted it so I could have a nice steady quiet downdraft...
