    SilvrSurfr,

I am sorry I was so rude to you. I certainly didn't mean to be. Thank you for mentioning it so I can learn from it. Actually, I already learned something as I re-introduced myself that very morning to the JerzyBears, who I had also met the evening before, because you pointed out that it is indeed hard to recognize someone you have only seen by firelight.

Again, I apologize and hope to see you soon.

    Social Anxiety I don't have.

But I do have some good old fashion social awkwardness! Haha well actually hiking has really done a number on that to tell the truth. You meet a lot of people on the trail who are either really socially comfortable and great at meeting new people - or you meet people with more social anxiety or awkwardness than you personally poses and it helps guide you toward better methods.

I have perfect eye-sight, but I have a terrible time putting names to faces! I've met the "usual" MAHHA crew three times already and I have to reintroduce myself to almost everyone every time. I'll remember faces, and what I talked about with those people, and what role they play in the hammock community (enthusiast, cottage vendor, casual on-looker, backpacker, car camper, etc.) but I won't remember their name.

The exception to the rule is folks from the forums I've actually hiked with. Two or three days on the trail and I'll remember your handle. Kinda sad it takes that much, but like a few already said, these folks are friendly and forgiving and they don't let the small stuff bother them.

That all being said, if I reintroduce myself to you, it's not that I don't remember you - I just can't place your name! It's probably on the tip of my tongue too! Apologies in advance

I wasn't saying you were rude! In fact, you were just the opposite. I just thought it was a funny incident - kinda made me feel stupid for no real reason. Like Rook, I'm bad with names, and I envy people (like salesmen) who so adeptly remember people even if they only met them once for a few minutes. My congressman, Frank Pallone, is very good at remembering his constituents' name and their issues.

Found out my 10 year wants to join us. Now I'll have two oc my boys there. (The other is 18). This mean my youngest and I will be hammocking 3 out of 5 weekend this Fall. Also means I gotta make a third UQ. Wasn't prepared for that. Think a hammock strung through a sleeping bag will work for him?

Due to some urgent major repairs on our old house I will not be hiking the SOBO pre-hike.

What was a medium plumbing repair turned into a major repair involving structure, two contractors and
a timetable that bumps up against the beginning of the hike.

Therefore, regrettably, after talking to one of the contractors this morning, it is clear that I must cancel.

I was so looking forward to the hike with Living the HighLife, "she who will be trailnamed later"
and the trail-tales-and-antics of the adolescent-spirited-wisdom-added SilvrSurfr.

Considering a slightly bigger time window for attending the Fall MAHHA I may still be able to hang.
Yet, I am taking my name off the list.

Hope to hike later this fall; and see some of you at the NJ Winter Hang.

    Happy Trails All ! !

    Hey Everyone!

Please check the Saturday Potluck list for must needed items.

We're still looking for some extra tarps to tie up around the pavillion to act as wind break if weather is windy.

Also need people to volunteer to bring hotdogs and burgers, and buns. (These items will be reimbursed.) If no volunteers I will pick up in between my prehike and the start of the weekend event on Friday. (But I'd rather be hanging at Gathland with everyone instead of shopping for food.)

I have two brand spanking new 12'x16' tarps sitting in my Garage. They were going to be extra dining flys for the Troop. I'll bring them. I can also get burgers/dogs/buns at Costco on my way up Friday. I only live about an hour away.
