    Black Mamba vs Burrow

I have been looking at top quilts lately and have come across the Black Mamba and the Burrow. They both look like great quilts but the black mamba seems a good bit more expensive for only 850f down while the Burrow is cheaper and has 900f down. Is there a big difference in the two or are they both just as good as the other? Also with the new golite in stock would that also be comparable or better than the other ones?

Arer you looking at the 20 degree quilts? I can tell you that the Mamba comes with a sewn in footbox where that is an added option for the Hammock gear. Golites are nice quilts as well and are definitely something to give a closer look. If it comes down to pricing - going with the the lower cost of these three still puts you in a great spot!

Yeah I am looking at the 20 degree quilts. I like the burrow a bit better without the sewn in footbox since it would be able to be more breathable. I think it's a no go on the golite quilt since i would rather have my money going someone who makes them in America rather than factories over seas. plus its only thirty dollars more.

well for my 20 HG quilt I did go with the open footbox because i wanted the option to vent in warmer temps. For much colder weather (winter) I would have a sewn in footbox for sure.

I have the mamba in long/wide for winter and like the sewn footbox and the ability to layer with the wide model.
What I love about my HG 20 is the center draw string at the top of the quilt and the snap/draw string to vent when needed.

The sewn foot box is definately my preference for 3 season or winter TQ's. I have a snap footbox on my 0* and will eventually send it in for a mod.

A +1 on R3l@x's comment about the center drawstring at the top on the HG.

The center drawstring on my HG Burrow works very well indeed

The side drawstring on my Golite 1-season...not so much. Since it is way off center, one side of the drawstring only pulls a short amount and most of the take-up is done with the other. This means I fumble around while I get them separated and find the correct side to pull (by feel). It's a small thing, but it's an unnecessary inconvenience. Now that the price is back up on the Golite 3-season, I'd go with our "cottage" vendors every time.

I recently bought a 2nd hand HG quilt, it had a custom made by Thowren tag sewn onto one of the edges. I kinda like spending my money with someone that actually answers the phone or an email. They gladly patched a quilt for me once. These things are what I value more than what I pay per oz. of down.
