    Ridgeline in the way

I've got a wbbb, and I'm joining others in singing its praise. However, two details frustrate me a bit, one of them is appropriate for this part of the forum: the ridgeline is in the way..

Every time I try to lounge in the hammock, I have a hard time getting my head around (literally now) the line, because it's low enough that I can't just easily bend and sneak under it (being 186 cm tall). In addition, when leaning back just having made myself comfortable, the bugnet keeps coming back and falling down in my face.

Am I missing something clever with the line, or should I just bring this up with my parents in that I'm just not created well for this particular detail of hammocking life?

Those are simple fixes. The ridge line some people make detachable by a small carabiner. So when they are lounging they unclip and it's outta of your way. Secondly the bug net on the wbbb there are tie down strings that you can tie it down and out of your way.

I just lift the line out of the way and then sit back, my current BB has the ties so I use those.

I used to have the same problem until I made a detachable ridgeline. Pick up a Dutch Ridgeline biner and some amsteel (for me its easier to splice than dynaglide and zing-it and I like the strength). Make a small continuous loop and a long segment with two fixed eyes. The tricky part is to make the continuous loop, the biner and the long segment match the original ridgeline length. Once that's done feed the continuous loop though one end of the hammock, the fixed eye of the long segment through the other end and then connect the two with the Dutch biner. I made mine without hardware which take longer to do and explain.

Quick replies, thanks guys! Good to know that I'm not the only one created this way.. Detatchable ridgeline sounds like a good idea - but rather than splicing, I might just tie a loop in one end and be done with it

There are tie downs you say.. Hmm.. could those be the ones I used to hold my underquilt in place then?

Anyway, thanks, sounds like these answers will clear one of the frustrating details for me!
