Best Tarp Ridge Line to use with Figure 9

What type of tarp ridge line do you use with the Figure 9's?

I currently use the Backpacking Light AirCore Pro "UrsaLite" Dyneema Bear Bag Hanging Cord. It's 2.2mm and slightly slick. It seems to not hold in the Figure 9 (small size) very well. When I pull on one side to tighten the other comes loose.

    Thanks for any help!

From someone with an almost identical setup and if you have enough rope. I have found it helpful to use the multi wrap like Speer suggests (without the tuck) before going to Figure 9 then finish of with a combination half hitch and slip knot back towards the tree. The multi wrap helps to keep the tarp centered on the tree when you start cranking down on the side tie outs.

I wrap mine a couple of times around the figure 9 before I put in in that last sereated crook and then run it through that serated crook a couple of times. I'm using the standard line that comes with the HH 70d Hex tarp and it seems to hold up. When I do this, it holds up to the tension I put on it.

I've switched my tarp tie-outs to 550 paracord. It seems to hold very well in the figure 9's. I usually pull the insides out of the paracord to save a little bit of weight, and have not had any trouble with it. YMMV of course.

I use the 1.75 mm Lash-It,, about the same as the BPL cord, but slightly smaller diameter. I had the same problem of the cord slipping through the hole of the Figure 9.

I simply took a length of the same cord, tied into a loop and then used the loop to tie a 5 wrap Prusic on the ridge line cord. Then attach the Figure 9 to the Prusic loop. You can leave the Prusic and Figure 9 on the rope, slide the Prusic to where you want it and use the Figure 9 as usual. The 5 wrap Prusic holds well for me.
