Greetings!
Been a ground sleeper for well...since I started camping. I'm a stomach / side sleeper so I figured I'd never be able to adapt to a hammock. At an event put on by Dave Wescott, I spoke to a guy at the event there that lives just North of me here in MN that sells some gear. He's huge into the whole hammock thing. He had me try laying in one and gave me the rundown. I was pretty shocked at how flat you could get. Seeing as there were limited spots to set up my camp there and seeing how easy it was to get a hammock in plenty of places it made sense to at least give it a shot. At the very least I'll have options right?
So, with my 2011 REI dividend I picked up an ENO Single nest, Atlas straps & bug net. I also post on BCUSA and use their tarps so I'll just use that for now. Figure this way I'm not spending a ton on a setup before figuring out if I can hack it.
Haven't done a hang yet, but hoping to get out either this weekend or next and give it a shot.
I've heard tell it's addicting...
