    I use all Nite Ize reflective cord and plastic Figure 9s for my tarp. The cord is nice and strong and tightens up well. The plastic Figure 9s seem pretty sturdy to me. I always put them under heavy tension and have never seen any signs that they would break. Even with a 50+ foot extended ridgeline and some medium winds they held up fine.

    Also I've tied prusiks (made of the same reflective cord) onto the ridgeline for hanging things, and they slide just fine and hold under tension. I'm a big fan of the taughtline hitch and use it everywhere I can. It makes everything adjustable under tension. Combine a siberian hitch and a taughtline hitch for a quick easy ridgeline hang.

    NiteIze Figure 9s

    I got some at REI and then some others at Ace Hardware in the camping section. I have also seen them on Amazon.
