Has anyone ever made a hammock out of cuben fiber? Just curious, dont plan on doing it cause of cost just wondering if anyone has ever made it.

Yes sir it has been done. My friend Strung Out made an awesome one with an integrated underquilt. Check it out. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=39831

Wow. Thats awesome!
I opened that thread and felt as though I had just walked through Alice Cooper's entryway.
I'm not worthy.
Of course you are. You demonstrated that simply by asking the question about something you didn't know existed.
By the way, here's another one. There's a short video in post #10. We learn as we go along - perhaps best by asking good questions. What I learned with this hammock was that the lack of stretch makes it a bit less comfortable than a similar hammock made of nylon, and it needs to be stronger than CT1K.18 to keep from getting small tears due to local stresses (i. e. - my feet kicking during the night). Field repairs work, however, and it functions as a very light underquilt when hung beneath the nylon hammock mentioned.
I wonder if Lewis Carrol knew that Alice's last name was Cooper....
but i bet he could take a square root of a negative number :0
I got to lay in the Ghost hammock at Slick Rock...it didn't fit me but the comfort level was not bad and obviously far better than the ground.
My wonder is the weight savings. With m90 out there the differences are small. With m50 being made and soon to be tested maybe no weight advantage at all to a cuben hammock.
Gardenville made one about 5 years ago - http://ultraliteskunkworks.blogspot....r-hammock.html
Lots of mentions of cuben hammocks on this site, too.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
You guys that own the cuben hammocks, is it uncomfortable having no stretch in it?
No, it isn't uncomfortable, but for me it is slightly less comfortable than the same hammock design made with 1.5 or 1.9 oz. ripstop. On the other hand, I find a 1.1 oz. fabric stretches a bit too much for me. Note that before I cut the ends off a gathered end cuben hammock and turned it into an adjustable one, I had trouble with a hard center ridge. I find whipping a gathered end correctly is a hit-or-miss proposition, however. I'm just better at fine-tuning the end strings of my adjustables. We not only have different sleeping postures, we also bring different methods and skills to hammock construction, so achieving a comfortable night's sleep will always be a relative matter.
