Light weight cheap summer underquilt???

I was wondering if anybody has plans for a light weight summer underquilt. My current UQ i give a temp rating of 20F and is weights just under a 1lb. I am aiming to get something around 8oz but also be cheap. My current thoughts are with fleece. I looked at IX and some of the cheap insulation from joanns but it either weighs too much or costs too much.

You should consider IX. if you want it really lightweight, you could make a double layer using only 4 yards (about $40 incl. shipping). One more yard will get you a triple layer for another $6.

I know IX is kinda the best but i was wondering about the durability.

The poncho liner is a bit on the heavy side.

If you want lightweight camping equipment, you have to treat it like lightweight camping equipment and all will be fine. The biggest drawback to IX underquilts is that they probably will touch the ground at some point where they will become leaf magnets. This is the only reason that most people add a layer of 1.1 oz ripstop to the outer side.

Just take to pieces of 1.1 sew baffels and put the desired amount of down. Just do a differantial cut. Yoy can figure this by sticking two pins about 24 inches apart drape a piece of thred so it fofs a u then place 2 more pins about 2 1/2 inches outside of the first two pins mesure the thred and you know how wide to cut te 1.1 wes and stuff. I did mine with 8 baffels and 8 oz. of down total 14 oz. about 1.1/2 in. of loft. good to about 40*. Oh and the 14 Oz. in in a stuff sack.

I've been wondering about using a down comforter as a cheap qu. Has anyone done this? Maybe double it over and sew the ends together, add a channel for suspension, and run shock cord through it?

thin climashield with some m50 on either side? My 40* UQ is climashield and m50, but I think it's 2" climashield. Going for 1" should help.
M50 is pretty tough stuff when you pull on it, but you have to be careful with it. I popped one of my quilted knots through the fabric when I was jamming it in the stuff bag and the UQ ballooned up on one end.

Guessing it's out of stock because the thread is so old. I haven't seen any stellar deals on fill in quite some time.
