fixed spreader bars that work as trekking poles?

Just wondering if any one has made trekking poles (non adjustable) that also double as spreader bars for a bridge hammock?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

    Not me.
Methinks it would be easier to go with hiking poles that double as spreaders rather than spreaders that double as hiking poles.

I do not have hiking poles, but those that I have seen used for bridge spreaders are always having to be collapsed into a shorter length. So a dedicated fixed length spreader might be a bit short for a hiking pole.

You could always make spreaders that are longer than required for the width of your hammock so they work as hiking poles. Then you just have to figure out how to attach them...

You could use prusik loops to connect the poles to the hammock. My only consideration would be weather a single lightweight trekking pole is strong enough to be used as a spreader? Don't blame me if you snap yours!

for those who don't know what a prusik loop is
