Maybe Crosby Manitou SP and pay for a site way down by the river. Water for sure. Night two some folks could stay or hike on elsewhere. An in-and-out. No shuttling of cars. The cost is minor and the trails are less maintained than SHT. Several options to take the direct route in via Cedar Ridge Trail or extend your hike by taking the Humpback Trail to the River Trail.....http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/maps/st...s/spk00163.pdf
Site 13 or 14 will hold several hangers. Maybe two mile hike in. Still may be dry up there on the small streams and creeks. Not 100% sure though.
Anyhow....those are my thoughts along with Wandern'Fool.
    Hope to make it.

Sounds like a good idea. I was at Site 13 in July for an overnighter. Great spot and nice hiking. Here are a couple videos from my hike and at the campsite.

I agree with Shug and Pizza. Site 13 & 14 are great sites and not too far apart. Best of both worlds for car campers and backpackers. No shuttling is a huge plus. I am hoping to make the hang. Will not know till closer to the date.

Ok, In Fronkey's absence(SHT thru hike), I've staged a bloodless coup. George H. Crosby-Manitou Sate Park is the site for the hang. Went to make a reservation online for site 13 and found it has already been reserved. Site 14 which is very close is a walk-in. At this point in time all other sites are open. Input is welcomed by the new regime, as to other site recommendations.

Site #10 is a big site that will hold many hanger according to my map notes. But 14 may be more private.

I've been there a few times but never looked at sites with the idea of a group hang. So wherever is fine with me. As far as privacy is concerned, I don't expect there will be a lot of people out there.
If anyone is interested in hiking, we could hike on Saturday to Egge Lake and to my house on Sunday (between Hwy 6 & Hwy 1). I'll have a car there and it's around 10 miles back to Crosby-Manitou.

Ok, I reserved and paid for the 19th and 20th at site #10 at George H. Crosby State Park. This gives options for lollygagging all weekend, hike north and back, or hike south and shuttle back w/Northman's help. Even this being a benevolent dictatorship, you still hold complete responsibility for yourself. State your plans, if it concerns Northman's involvement. Hey, date is set, place is set, chime in...............
