    detachable ridgeline

Just wondering if instead of making the continous loop and splicing more line. Couldn't you from say the foot end of where ridgeline is attached at amsteel just undo that end replace with a small section of say dynaglide and a dutch biner and hooking that to the original ridgeline with a tautline hitch. The only thing that you'd really be only adding is the biner.

If you have a blackbird I would not recommend it because of the bug net. But for a traveller its a pretty good idea. If it is on a blackbird may I ask why would you want the ridgeline detachable?

I made a detachable ridgeline for my BB. Instead of a biner I used a diamond knot and a soft shackle type loop as the connection. Its great to get it out of the way when sitting in it.

I've become a big fan of diamond knots. I'm hanging from dynaglide, completely dependent on diamond knots to keep my backside from hitting the dirt!

I made a detachable today on a freinds. Non structural though only for a bugnet. I took 98 inched of zing-it and tied a 2inch section of shock cord at each end with mini s biners (the little key chain ones) and attch it to the whoopies. Works quite well if I do say so myself Reason I did the shock cord is because we found that is acted as it wasnt even there when he layed in it to where it can stretch with the load to not be structural. If you looking for a non structural detachable this is the way to go. You could also not use mini s-biners and just slip the whoopie through the loop of shock cord. But he insisted I made it for him with s-biners. Ill make my own without one when I get a WL snipe as my other hammock.
